mBSA - the native Embedded System Agent

ProSyst's mBSA is an application which runs as a native process on the target embedded platform and provides the following important functionality which can not be realized in the Java layer:

Life Cycle and Faults Management - handling of critical faults, caused by the JVM or any mBS component. If a fault occurs mBSA takes appropriate actions such as restart of mBS, JVM or the whole OS.

Debug and Profiling Mode - mBSA is able to start the JVM and OSGi framework in debug and profiling mode.

Backup and Factory Storage - it is possible to backup the storage of the OSGi framework for later analysis (e.g. if an error occurs). The native agent can also revert the system to the factory image if it detects that the current storage is corrupted.

OS and Process Monitoring - mBSA monitors the native processes used by the OSGi bundles and their resource consumption (RAM, CPU usage, flash/disk usage, network traffic, etc). If necessary it can take some corrective measures.

Integration with Management Protocols - if the embedded device supports a given management protocol (e.g. TR-69), the native agent can be integrated with it, allowing management of the OSGi framework and the installed bundles and services by using this protocol.
