ProSyst joins Home Gateway Initiative (HGI), mBS Smart Home 7.0 passed all applicable test cases from HGI SWEX Test Plan

ProSyst extends its lead as a provider of the most open and standardized Home Gateway Middleware Stack

COLOGNE, Germany, December 3, 2010 --ProSyst Software GmbH (www.prosyst.com), an OSGi pioneer, announced today that it has become a member of the Home Gateway Initiative (www.homegatewayinitiative.com), and successfully participated in HGI´s recent test event.

The HGI, founded in 2004 by major broadband service providers (BSPs), and joined by leading vendors of digital home equipment, is shaping the way that IP services are delivered to the home.
The HGI publishes requirements for digital home building blocks. Those building blocks are the hardware and software in the digital home that connect consumers and services. They include home gateways, home networks, and home network devices.

„With ProSyst joining HGI we welcome a strong player in the software modularity area to our ecosystem,“ said Duncan Bees, Chief Technology and Business Officer at HGI. “Our work on software modularity for home gateways (SWEX) is a major step forward to a new ecosystem for broadband service providers. The test event is an important enabling step to the adoption of this key technology.”

"HGI´s SWEX specification defines requirements for modular execution environments on Home Gateways allowing operators to have better control over the software and to deploy new broadband services on-the-fly" said Kai Hackbarth, Evangelist at ProSyst. "As of today, the OSGi middleware is the only standardized execution environment that meets the SWEX requirements.”

ProSyst participated in last weeks test event in Hull, UK and mBS Smart Home 7.0 execution environment passed all applicable test from HGI´s Software Execution Environment on the Home Gateway (SWEX) 2010 Test Plan - incl. the reliability test cases. For ProSyst, this means another major milestone since it is the company´s ultimate ambition to always offer the most open and standardized Home Gateway Middleware Stack in the market.

Operators worldwide start to invest into an ecosystem that allows them to open up CPEs for third-party developers in order to differentiate with service offerings for e.g. home automation, energy management, ambient assited living, etc . ProSyst is the only vendor that provides a complete range of products for home service enablement starting from the OSGi execution environment for CPEs, development tools and SDKs for third-party application developers and a remote management system supporting all major standards defined by the OSGi Residential Expert Group, the HGI and the Broadband Forum (BBF).
