ProSyst to integrate Android@Home with HGI and OSGi based Service Execution Platform

Extending its lead as a provider of the most open and truly neutral, standardized Home Gateway Middleware

COLOGNE, Germany, May 18, 2011 -- ProSyst Software GmbH (www.prosyst.com), an OSGi pioneer, announced today that it will add support for Android@Home in its leading product mBS Smart Home which includes a complete stack for the realization of service delivery solutions compliant with the specifications developed by Home Gateway Initiative (HGI), the OSGi Alliance and Broadband Forum (BBF). By implementing the new Android@Home device protocol into ProSyst’s device abstraction layer HDM (Home Device Manager), ProSyst will enable Service Providers to integrate solutions based  on already existing protocols such as ZigBee, KNX, Z-Wave etc. with Android@Home - solutions allowing for a seamless integration across a wide range of major hardware/software platforms.

Operators worldwide have started to invest heavily into an ecosystem that allows them to open up CPEs for their own and third-party developers in order to differentiate themselves with new service offerings for home automation, energy management, ambient assisted living, etc. ProSyst is the only vendor that provides a complete range of products for home service enablement starting from the OSGi execution environment for CPEs, development tools and SDKs for application developers as well as a remote management system supporting all relevant standards such as TR-069.

"Our mBS Smart Home is a modular service execution environment for Home Gateways that, combined with our Remote Management Software, allows operators to be in total control of the gateway software and to remotely deploy new services on-the-fly. After adding Android@Home support, service providers will be able to benefit from many additional upcoming Android-compliant devices." said Thomas Hott, CEO of ProSyst. "Our goal is to put operators into the driver’s seat with a modular and scalable enabling technology that allows them to position themselves as successful Service Providers and Aggregators in the in the fast growing connected home market.”

The OSGi Alliance is a non-profit corporation and was founded in March 1999. It is a worldwide consortium of technology innovators that advances a proven and mature process to create open specifications that enable the modular assembly of software built with Java technology. The OSGi Service Platform facilitates the componentization of software modules and applications and assures interoperability of applications and services over a variety of networked devices.

The HGI, founded in 2004 by major broadband service providers (BSPs), and joined by leading vendors of digital home equipment, is shaping the way that IP services are delivered to the home. The HGI publishes requirements for digital home building blocks. Those building blocks are the hardware and software in the digital home that connect consumers and services. They include home gateways, home networks, and home network devices.
