Home Smart Home: ZyXEL shows marketable Home Automation Solution at CeBIT 2012
Würselen, 16th February 2012 - At this year's CeBIT in Hall 13 / booth C58, networking expert ZyXEL is showing its latest OSGi platform-based Home Smart Home solutions, which was co-developed and integrated with software specialist ROCKETHOME and ProSyst, the OSGi and Smart Home middleware expert. As the first network solutions provider, ZyXEL has succeeded in introducing a Z-Wave-based home automation solution to the market.
"Smart Home" is no longer just a future vision but a deployable intelligent solution of networked devices. The range of potential applications goes beyond the simple measurement or control of power consumption. ZyXEL's Home Smart Home portfolio includes the ZyXEL Access Point SHG3305 which is the central intelligence unit for the HVAC functions (heating, ventilation and air conditioning). Further individual components are the ZyXEL SHD5110 temperature and humidity sensor, the ZyXEL SHD1111 door and window contacts, the ZyXEL SHD2110 on/off plugs, the ZyXEL SHD3110 on/off plug with a power meter and last but not least the ZyXEL SHD 5110 Z-Wave USB dongle.
Powered by the ROCKETHOME software and the OSGi middleware intelligence from ProSyst, which is integrated in the ZyXEL SHD3305, users can perform various functions on their PCs, tabs or smartphones which contribute to the optimized energy-efficiency, safety and comfort in their homes. Individual devices can be conveniently integrated into the existing network so that the Home Smart Home system can grow gradually with the needs and demands of the users. Setting functions is an easy task and even whole scenarios can be synchronized to create, i.e. a cosy "coming home" scenario, in which the heating is turned up by the SHD1110 and the SHD2100 devices switch on lights or the radio.
Visitors to the ZyXEL booth at the CeBIT can see a live demonstration of this mature solution and be inspired by the real-life scenarios. ZyXEL is currently in discussion with service providers as well as with utilities to determine when the Home Smart Home solution will go to market.
